From June 2nd-6th the Circus will be coming to town. Anthology in Little Italy, San Diego will be hosting the world-renowned cirque-like show called Il Circo. Forget the lions, tigers, bears, oh my kind of show your thinking, this circus will feature beautiful acrobatic performers in the classically intimate venue that is Anthology. Along with breath-taking performances expect an outstanding Il Circo-inspired menu.
Now, you may be thinking, a circus? “How the hell are they gonna do that?” well, you’re not alone. For this is the same thing that David Moye, Public Relations guru for Anthology asked. His answer, “mostly onstage, with dramatic lighting by a performance team with over 14 years of experience” translation: you’re in for a treat. This lavish musical cirque extravaganza originated in San Diego in 1996 and has toured throughout the world. They rarely perform in their hometown and are delighted to use Anthology’s intimate space for a unique Il Circo experience. Chef Eric Bauer has come up with an inventive Il Circo-inspired menu that is sure to delight your night. For a small “bite”, try the Fresh Popcorn Shrimp with Movie Theatre Butter and a Basil Remoulade or the Korean Spiced BBQ Chicken Wings with Sesame Dipping Sauce. Entrees include a Pork Milanese with Oven Roasted Potatoes, Preserved Meyer Lemon, Balsamic Greens and Fresh Tomato, as well as a Pan Seared Mahi Mahi with Ragout of Spring Spinach and Mushrooms, Roasted Corn and Poblano Sauce.
